2020 in Review
Vital Life Foundation kicked off 2020 in a strong way. While the global COVID-19 pandemic may have required us to pause many of our most beloved programs and events we started the year strong with our hugely successful annual fundraiser Laughter is the Best Medicine and cherished event Cupid Crew. When the pandemic hit we refocused our support rallying behind our #HealthcareHeroes, encouraged the community to #SendSeniorsLove, and supported our Charitable Partners as they worked hard to maneuver the ever changing world created by all of our efforts to stay safe and healthy. Read below for some more details highlighting 2020.

Laughter is the Best Medicine
We believe laughter is great for the soul, and our Laughter is the Best Medicine Fundraiser is a wonderful example of that. Cupid Crew

#HealthcareHeroes & #SendSeniorsLove
As we all went through the journey of the COVID-19 pandemic together, many asked what you could be done to help support and raise the spirits of our facility staff, residents, and patients. Emotional, mental, and spiritual health is vital to keeping each of us resilient, positive, and strong, which is why we introduced #HealthcareHeroes where we invited the community to express gratitude for senior healthcare staff and #SendSeniorsLove creating the opportunity to send cards of love and support to seniors living in care facilities.

Friends of the Children
Traditionally in November, Friends of the Children (FOTC) hosts ‘Friendsgiving’ an annual event that serves almost 800 at-risk youth and their families a Thanksgiving meal. Due to COVID, this was an event that could not happen, but that didn’t stop the Marquis Dietary team. They prepared and packaged 200 Thanksgiving Meals that were delivered to the doorstep of the youth that were most in need of food support by their FOTC mentors.

Meals on Wheels People
The pandemic had hard-hitting effects on the senior population Meals on Wheels People serve and every element of their service mission, but Meals on Wheels People prevailed in 2020. They maneuvered their assistance efforts to serve over a 400% increase in client services, changed their delivery model to insure the ability to serve a growing number of senior clients while also adding new safety protocols. In addition MOWP fought isolation in senior lives by starting phone call check-ins for their clients. Vital Life Foundation was proud to increase our annual donation in support of these efforts to $200,000 at the outset of the pandemic.
